Specific admission requirements vocals

In addition to the general admission criteria, there are specific admission requirements for the Vocals major. You will prepare five pieces which are different in character and tempo (of which one song must be selected from the songlist). You are free to choose the style of the pieces. You can play any kind of jazz, latin or pop music as well as a mix of various styles. During the audition, you will perform a minimum of one and a maximum of three of the prepared pieces. Preferably you will play with your own band.

Important aspects that can be part of the audition and that are considered in the assessment:

  • Being able to give your own interpretation to a song
  • being able to demonstrate a good text recital reading and understanding of a text
  • Good pronunciation
  • On-key intonation
  • Good timing
  • Have a medically sound voice (if in doubt, a statement from an ENT doctor must be submitted)
  • Be able to improvise on simple chord progressions
  • The pieces are performed with a microphone

A pre-selection may be a part of the entrance exams procedure.
