Starting April 10, the musical ANNE will once again show at the Theater Amsterdam (with two performances each Sunday). Eva Heijnen, who graduated in 2014 from the ArtEZ School of Acting in Arnhem, takes on the lead role. Anne was previously played by Rosa da Silva, another ArtEZ alumna (Theatre in Education).

The play ANNE, which has already attracted 350,000 visitors, was produced at the initiative of the Anne Frank Fonds in Basel. The foundation wished to retell Anne Frank’s story in an innovative way to younger generations worldwide. Due to its success in the Netherlands, ANNE will also be performed abroad and the first showing will likely take place in Japan.

Since studying at ArtEZ, Eva Heijnen has worked for a number of well-known theatre groups, such as Toneelgroep Amsterdam (MEDEA) and Toneelgroep Maastricht (Kamer en de Man). After her graduation, Eva received two study grants to pursue on-camera acting classes in New York.
