Welcome to paradise! You cannot hide here. Radical authenticity and courage, embracing the music that is there, superseding the ego. That is what my studies here at ArtEZ are about and it is also what I am searching for in my final performance. Apart from some music that I wrote and some favorite pieces that have accumulated in my musical world, the direction of the concert will mainly be determined by what lies within the people playing that night. Improvisation is key, culminating in the now. How will it sound? Think of it as Neanderthaler-Jazz! So again, welcome to paradise. No one can hide here. No need. abide, my friend   hey, Nice to meet you, my name is P. I’m a kid who wants to make beautiful things. Besides my ‘main’ instrument, the bass, I long to explore and use other mediums like piano, guitar, painting, singing, writing… as long as it’s genuine to the cause.  Creating is like a stepping through a portal. It takes me to a place where I get to live with my own characters and fables. It’s the realm of the dreamer.  As Oscar Wilde put it: “Art’s only aim is to simply create a mood”. And that is exactly what me and my friends would like to share with you.  Take a breath and abide, my friend.    - P.   THE KIDS:  bass, guitar, vocals: Pauline Timmerbeil drums: Daniel Louis electric guitar: Marco Braun piano, rhodes: Fee Aaij saxophon: Norbert Lensink

Hey you. My name’s Niklas. I write and produce music, ‘surpriiiise’ ;). A serene, acoustic-electronic forest is where I frequently stroll. In it, I tend to find guitar, vocals and electronic sounds, and I play with rhythm in a minimal setting. From that place I wander to a large, epic realm I like to call “realisation music”, and I touch, taste and fabricate everything I like along the way.   If you’re curious, come wander wíth me on my final.     Credits Backing vocal: Oscar van de Steeg Backing vocal: Anne Damink    Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/niklas.haverkate/ Mail: haverkate.niklas@gmail.com

Papatūānuku Oleksandra Shevchenko is a Ukrainian composer who tends to use raw realism in her music to help the audience connect and identify with it. She has scored a few short films and animations, as well as a feature sci-fi horror movie which is currently streaming on Amazon Prime, and for which she won the Best Sound award (Carpe Diem Film Festival 2023).   For her final Oleksandra is going to present her movie “Papatūānuku”. It is a film that raises concerns about our planet and how we treat it. Through the power of diverse images of Earth’s landscapes, spoken word and emotional music, it draws attention to a very clear message, giving an audience room for thought. Elias Luijten (23) is a Dutch flugelhorn player, composer and producer making the absurd real. His idols in playing and writing are Pharoah Sanders, MF Doom, Sun Ra and many others.   On his final recital Elias unleashes the completely new repertoire he composed for his Melancholic Spacejazzband The Starpeople, which they also perform with at the main stage of Music Meeting 2025 the following Monday. Simultaneously Elias is making his debut as a movie director and composer presenting a short movie inspired by dadaism and American shitculture. The untitled and ill-defined film features himself and his father as the main, and only, characters as well as fully original music made with a whole bunch of dusty old music gear portraying Elias’ persona as analog producer.    The Starpeople is the brainchild of Elias and his soulmate Fee Aaij (piano) originating in the adoration they share for the music of McCoy Tyner and John and Alice Coltrane. If you know this music, you can imagine that when Elias and Fee met it felt as if they spoke the same alien language. The Starpeople became the output for their passionate visions on music and humanity. In 2023 they released a self-produced EP called Happening #1 starring ArtEZ heroes André Groen (percussion), Jeroen Pek (flutes) and Mete Erker (saxophone/bass clarinet) and together with Mete also hosted a Starpeople jam at Paradox Tilburg.  For his final recital Elias put together a true star crew he has grown very fond of:  Wiro Mahieu – upright bass Qisheng Zheng – flute  Min Won – drums  Fee Aaij – piano     Movie crew: Sem Willemsen - co-producer, director and cameraman Jan Luijten - actor Elias Luijten - writer, actor, producer and director
