A Symphony of a Tree
A multimedia live performance composed and performed by Severin Salvenmoser.
What is it like to be a tree? What does a tree feel? What does a tree experience during its growth from seed to crown, from soil to heaven, from birth to death? The answers to these questions are out of reach for the human mind. But maybe the tree’s story can be told in the universal language of music and the natural sounds of a tree’s surroundings. Follow me on this journey through the elements. You will hear a symphony of field recordings of nature’s sounds sampled and synthesized, acoustic instruments recorded and also performed live by me. The sonic experience will be underlined by visuals interacting with the music.
Pre-recorded material performed by: Fame’s Project Orchestra Matangi Quartet
Severin Salvenmoser is a composer and musician who has worked for theatre companies, dance choreographers, and fashion shows. His autonomous project, “A Symphony of a Tree” is a modern take on the symphonic poem. Inspired by all the musical sounds that constantly surround us, he wants to melt them together with instrumental music in a composition and make the symphony of the world audible as he hears it.
