Bodies that “deviate from the norm” were once objects of sensation in old circus shows. Those days are behind us—but in what subtle ways is this gaze still woven into how we look at people who don’t resemble us?

With humor and self-mockery, Anniko Delvoije and the performers of Speels Collectief explore how to reclaim the stage. What does the gaze of others do to your self-image? Is self-love the cure? Can they shake off the traces of centuries-old ideas and make them disappear forever into the top hat?

With this performance, Anniko Delvoije graduates from the School of Acting in Arnhem.
Anniko is a performer-maker who prefers to create theatre based on interviews and documentary material. Her style is both comic and dramatic. Visually, she embraces over-the-top show elements and has a strong affinity for language and music.
