ArtEZ Music Theatre Festival

-

From 21 to 31 January, the new ArtEZ Music Theatre Festival transforms the Jacobiberg in Arnhem into a living laboratory for contemporary music theatre.

Nine Music Theatre and Master of Music students present their ArtEZ Finals: raw try-outs and idiosyncratic premieres, created in the midst of their graduation process.

In the Aula and the Z.O.Z. Hall of theatre company BOT (at Jacobiberg), audiences discover how these makers have developed over four years—from promising first-year students into autonomous theatre makers with an emerging professional practice. They compose, perform, tell stories, sing, push boundaries, and invite audiences into their worlds.

The festival offers professionals—programmers, directors, makers, producers and educators—the opportunity to discover new stories and encounter the music theatre makers who will help shape the Dutch performing arts in the years to come. Regional music theatre audiences are also invited to gain an up-close insight into how new work is created: unfiltered, honest and rich in imagination.

With these Finals presentations, the fourth-year students make their first independent statement to the professional field: work that is ready to step into the world, or that courageously reaches towards it in the try-out phase.
