The Aquarel Trio consists of Melanie Verveer (flute), Coralie Greisch (cello), and Rose Hoogendijk (piano). The three met during their studies at the ArtEZ Conservatory in Zwolle. Sharing a deep passion for chamber music, they founded the Aquarel Trio in September 2024.
The ensemble’s name is inspired by “Les Trois Aquarelles” by composer Philippe Gaubert, one of the first pieces they performed together. Each instrument in this trio has a unique sound and its own color. During their performances, the musicians aim to blend these different colors as beautifully as possible — like an aquarelle painting.
Melanie Verveer began playing the flute at the age of six. While in secondary school, she already attended the classical music preparatory program at ArtEZ. At sixteen, Melanie successfully auditioned for the bachelor’s program in classical music at the Zwolle conservatory, where she now studies with João Ramos Marta. Her greatest passion is making music with others, both in chamber ensembles and as principal flutist of the National Youth Orchestra of the Netherlands (Jeugdorkest Nederland).
Coralie Greisch, from Luxembourg, has been passionate about classical music since early childhood. Inspired by the 12 Cellists of the Berliner Philharmoniker, she began cello lessons at age nine with Claude Giampellegrini at the Conservatory of Luxembourg. She is currently studying at the ArtEZ Conservatory in Zwolle.
Rose Hoogendijk is a Dutch-American pianist. She studies classical piano under Helena Basilova at the ArtEZ Conservatory, having previously taken lessons with Roelfke Huttenga and Sonia Bjornsen.
