DAR DAYS 24/25: Levi Overvest Presents Artistic Research

Levi Overvest at Plaatsmaken
The residency presentation of artist Levi Overvest at Plaatsmaken Arnhem, consists of two parts. Firstly, a technical research question. Levi wished to research whether he is able to do a silkscreen print on ceramics whose clay is not yet dry. After, the clay can be baked and glazed. With this method he hopes to create a variety of layers within a single piece in which print, sculpting, baking and glazing are constantly interchanging each other.

The second part of his residency entails commissioning. Levi is interested in histories and folk tales as part of his art practice. Historically multiple commissioners are bound to the arts such as the nobility or the church. They would commission painters to depict religion or material wealth.

Levi wonders: who could be the commisioner for his current residency in Plaatsmaken? At the moment he is in conversations with a primary school in Klarendal, Arnhem. He wants the students to commission his depiction. He will process the wishes of the students in silk screen prints on ceramics that will eventually get places in their classrooms and in an expo at Plaatsmaken.

This event is part of the DAR DAYS 24/25. With this programme we show the diversity of research within ArtEZ.
