Minisymposium: Prototyping Futures
- Research
To mark the retirement of ArtEZ lecturer in Tactical Design Jeroen van den Eijnde, the mini-symposium Prototyping Futures on the future of academic and practice-based research and the role artists, designers and scientists can play in it will take place as part of Doing (Artistic) Research Days 24/25.
Minisymposium
On Thursday afternoon 28 November, Jeroen van den Eijnde will formally take his leave as ArtEZ lecturer in Tactical Design during a substantive and inspiring mini-symposium entitled Prototyping Futures on the future of academic and practice-based research and the role artists, designers and scientists can play in it.
The starting point of the mini-symposium is the title of Van den Eijnde's keynote speech: ‘A spatial exploration of design research between I- WE-DO(N)- THINK(S)’. Key questions here are:
How does the future-oriented maker mentality (DOEN) of artists and designers relate to the more reflective and analytical mindset of scientists (THINK)? To what extent should individual artists and designers (I) relate to the societal challenges of our time (WE)? The results of the Tactical Design professorship will also be looked back at from these perspectives.
