Lecture about Somatic Research for Design
On July 3, Silvia Sfligiotti (It) will give a lecture on Somatic Research for Design at the Corpo-real master's course Interior Architecture in Zwolle. Everyone is welcome; the lecture will be held in English.

Somatic research for design
If research is the generation of new knowledge, what does this mean when applied to design? When we consider design as a situated practice, we realise that we need to rely on a kind of knowledge that is strongly grounded and contextual. Situated knowledge is always new because it is re-generated each time in the context of our actions. If we acknowledge this, we must expand our research. First of all, we need to recognize the value of our bodies as sources of knowledge.
Through a selection of Silvia Sfigiotti's work as a designer and educator, she will present somatic research as a design method. Soma is the living, sensing body, and somatic training teaches us to access the unique kind of information it offers to each one of us, and to use it in our design process.
