Finals exposition DBKV: Formicarium
- Finals
Students of the Fine Art and Design in Education present: Formicarium (formica (mier), arium (place)

This year's graduate exhibition of the students of the Fine Art and Design is based on actor network theory (ANT). This states that all human and non-human actors are equal to each other and that the relationships between all these actors influence each other. ANT lets us understand how it all comes together and how we can form a collective. With ANT in mind, we literally and figuratively make a translation; the corridors of the Rietveld building refer to the complex exchange network of an ants' nest. With this, it stands in the sign of a formicarium. In the run-up, the graduating students meet each other's work. In smaller groups, under the guidance of visual teachers, the graduation work is prepared for the exhibition. This year, for the first time, during a two-day work period, the students and accompanying teachers are challenged together to let the exhibition emerge from intuition and the exchange of ideas. The students will thus explore cross connections in each other's work and art education vision.
Formicarium is a place for encounter where the boundaries of being an artist educator are explored. An exhibition as a corridor system containing works of art, students, teachers and visitors who all need each other equally.
