- Education in Art
Students at ArtEZ are generally more satisfied with their education than those at other universities of applied sciences. This is evident from the results of the 2025 National Student Survey (NSE). In particular, ArtEZ lecturers' ability to inspire their students stands out. Our lecturers receive significantly higher ratings than the national average.
The NSE provides valuable insights into how students experience their education and their institution each year.

Positive feedback on guidance, lecturers, and assessment
The NSE survey covers core themes such as satisfaction with lecturers and the methods of assessment, and part of it is the same for all universities of applied sciences. Institutions can also select additional topics that matter to them, the so-called elective themes. One of the topics selected by ArtEZ is 'Equal Treatment'.
Students rated ArtEZ as 'good/satisfied' on all core themes of the NSE. Compared to students at other institutions, ArtEZ students were more positive in many areas. They expressed greater satisfaction with personal guidance, rated lecturers' commitment above average, and gave positive feedback on the way their work is assessed. The elective themes also received positive ratings. For example, students appreciated the safe and inclusive environment within their programmes. Compared to last year, a greater proportion of students feel that their education aligns with professional practice. However, this aspect still lags behind the national average and remains a key area for improvement.
Appreciation for the role of lecturers
Nationally, students in higher education do not generally find their lecturers particularly inspiring. The statement 'Lecturers inspire me' received an average rating of 'sufficient/neutral'. In contrast, ArtEZ students rated their lecturers as a minimum of 'good/satisfied'. Compared to last year, an even greater proportion of students expressed appreciation for how engaged their lecturers are and how open they are to feedback. This positive experience is also reflected in themes specific to arts education, such as developing a strong foundation on which to build artistic knowledge and skills. These elements complement each other and reveal what students truly value.
Our lecturers are the beating heart of ArtEZ. Students value their expertise, of course, but even more so their dedication, inspiration and the space they offer for personal growth. We are incredibly proud of these passionate professionals who make a difference in the lives of young creatives every single day."

What is the National Student Survey?
It is a large-scale, nationwide study in which students share their opinions about their university or university of applied sciences, as well as their programme. Nearly 260,000 students participated this year. All practical information about the NSE can be found on their website.
