She wrote two songs for the competition. Begüm said, "Largely thanks to my master's course, I had enough self-confidence to participate in the competition with two lyrics and compositions I had written. I had prepared my musical accompaniment with Ableton, and in addition to singing during my live performance, I also played the flute. This drew a lot of attention from both the jury and the audience."

She dedicated one of the songs to her grandfather, who passed away earlier this year. This made winning the competition even more special for Begüm. Begüm said, "While I was singing my songs, I really felt like he was with me for a moment. It made it feel as if my grandfather and the audience were one shared audience. A very special experience for me, but also for the audience itself!"

This year, the Meykin Asia International Music Competition was held in Kyrgyzstan, with participants from 13 other countries, including Azerbaijan, Slovenia, Hungary, and Bosnia and Herzegovina. Begüm is proud of winning the first prize. About the Jazz & Pop master’s course in Arnhem
