Students give ArtEZ high marks in National Student Survey 2022

The National Student Survey (NSS), published today, shows that ArtEZ students are very satisfied with their study programme. Whereas the average satisfaction level for students in the Netherlands is 3.65, ArtEZ scores 3.94 on a 5-point scale. Out of a total of 50 questions, ArtEZ scored significantly higher than the national level on 44 questions and significantly higher than other universities of applied sciences on 33 questions. Components that stand out this year are Teachers, Study Guidance and Involvement & Contact.

Teachers highly valued for their commitment and contact

On the core theme Teachers, ArtEZ scores a 3.99, where the national average is 3.73. Teachers score well on knowledge about professional practice (4.26) and they give enough room to ask questions (4.10).  In the area of involvement & contact, ArtEZ scores 4.05, while the national average is 3.76. Students indicate that they feel above average at home in their study programme (4,19), that they feel safe to be themselves at ArtEZ (4,26) and that they feel inspired by what they learn during the study programme (4,19). ArtEZ students are also very positive about the core theme of study guidance (3.96): there is an increase in appreciation of the possibility of guidance (4.01), as well as the quality of guidance (3.92).

Connection to professional practice

Students are also very satisfied with their experiences and would choose their current course again (4.05). This is higher than the national average of 3.70. The connection to professional practice/career stands out positively in the survey. Both the acquisition of skills and contact with professional practice increased significantly, respectively from 3.62 to 3.76 and from 3.52 to 3.66.

About the National Student Survey

The National Student Survey is a large-scale national satisfaction survey that is carried out annually among students in higher education. Student opinions show what current students think of their programme and university. This year, over 860,185 students from 73 colleges and universities were invited to fill in the NSE.
