ENSCHEDE - the Executive Board of ArtEZ University of the Arts is delighted to announce that as of 1 September, Nicoline Loeper will be appointed director of AKI ArtEZ Academy of Art & Design in Enschede. The arts and art education in particular are close to her heart.

Nicoline Loeper new director of AKI ArtEZ

Nicoline is currently working as the director of CSG Reggesteyn Nijverdal. Her knowledge and experience of education, combined with her background in architecture and in creative thinking, are qualities which have convinced the Executive Board that she will be a valuable asset for AKI ArtEZ. Nicoline draws energy from devising creative concepts and then overseeing the implementation of the plans. Leadership in arts education is not new to her; she was previously head of the arts education teacher training courses at NHL Stenden.

Nicoline is looking forward to starting work at AKI ArtEZ: “AKI is an independently minded academy that suits me well. Plus, there are many opportunities to link in with the social context in Enschede. Taking in Roombeek and the University of Twente, for example, it is a lively city with a lot going on. There is promise there, and I am keen to put my energies into fulfilling it. Particularly in this unusual time, in which we need the arts more than ever."

Nicoline Loeper succeeds Marc Boumeester, who after overseeing the financial reorganisation of AKI ArtEZ, felt that this was the right time to focus on other things, including teaching. In between, an interim director was appointed for a short time. The Executive Board has welcomed Nicoline Loeper’s arrival. Maarten Bremer, member of the Executive Board: “It’s great that AKI can now enter its next phase with Nicoline, to further elevate the national and international reputation this academy of Art & Design already enjoys. Nicoline brings a lot of relevant knowledge and experience to the role and we look forward to taking the next steps with her and the AKI team.”
