Emergency fund for students: donate!
We follow the developments in Ukraine with horror. Our hearts go out to all victims of aggression, violence and displacement – wherever they are in the world, in visible and invisible wars. Like others, our community includes students and members of staff with Ukrainian, Russian or Belarusian backgrounds or connections. Our thoughts are with you, your families, friends, acquaintances and loved ones.

There are students who, for various reasons, find themselves in severe financial difficulties due to the war. The Ministry for Education, Culture and Science (OCW) is currently setting up a fund for students but we do not yet know the design and conditions of the fund or when it will be up and running. So it is still unclear what support, and in what form, will be available for these students from the government and possibly from local government.
Together we want to try to at least reduce the financial pressure on them. One way of doing so is to offer the possibility of deferring tuition fees, another is to revive the Emergency fund. ArtEZ previously established this emergency fund at the start of the pandemic, which also caused some students severe financial difficulties. ArtEZ has donated an initial amount of €10,000 from its own resources to support these students in meeting their daily needs.
We do not know if this will be sufficient. The end of this war is not yet in sight. For this reason, we want to draw the attention of all colleagues, fellow students and everyone involved with ArtEZ to the existence of this emergency fund: for those who need it, but also so that you can donate by clicking HERE.
Rest assured; if the money you donate does not prove necessary for providing direct aid to our students, we will immediately donate any remaining funds to giro 555. So it will always go to a good cause.
