SPOTTED - A very special work appeared at Nederlands Instituut voor Beeld en Geluid: a behind-the-scenes video of what should have been the very first Dutch science fiction film, made by ArtEZ students from Arnhem in 1980! A must see.
It should have been the Dutch Star Wars: Alexoma - The doler. An ambitious film, made by ArtEZ students. The students worked creatively by making models and space vehicles from everyday objects: from chip trays to lunch boxes. A moving black board with holes evokes the illusion of the universe and the students even managed to find inventive solutions for the special effects. The film was supposed to premiere in 1981, but only a few scenes were made, because the financing did not come through. Fortunately, you can take a look behind the scenes in this science fiction film about the first Dutch spaceship Explorer:
