He is one of 16 promising acts taking part in the talent development programme Metropool's Finest 2022. In partnership with that music venue, he is working on his EP release and on the pilot for a documentary series about 'game changers', which has its premiere on 26 March. Chris is also part of De Overijsselse Ambassade: nine promising acts which have been selected by three big music venues in the province of Overijssel (source: www.tubantia.nl).
Documentary series game changers
"On 26 March, the pilot of the first documentary series by Chris Egbers will have its premiere," it is announced in Tubantia. "The series is about change makers who have turned a negative experience into something positive. The pilot focuses on an ex-prisoner who now supports prisoners' families. Egbers interviews this change maker and encourages him with one of his own songs. The pilot episode is the start of a six-part series, which is due to be broadcast on national television." Metro’s Finest 2022
Besides documentaries, as a singer-songwriter, Chris obviously makes music. In the talent development programme Metropool's Finest, in which sixteen promising acts are given support and advice for a month by Poppodium Metropool, he made great progress, preparing him for the real work. "I learned how to write a good biography and hone my vision on paper," he says in the Tubantia article. "My strengths and weaknesses were discussed. My music may be too accessible and not distinctive enough. At the same time, I want to combine that music with social commitment, like making documentaries. That can help connect people. Metro's Finest showed me that this combination is actually my unique selling point. I now want to continue on that road." (sources: www.tubantia.nl; www.chrisegbers.com).
Overijsselse Ambassade 2022
Chris is also part of De Overijsselse Ambassade: nine acts which have been selected by three big music venues in the province of Overijssel who will be given extra support this year: all acts to watch out for. In the framework of the Overijsselse Ambassade, Chris had already taken part in a live session in Hedon Zwolle (sources: www.tubantia.nl; www.chrisegbers.com).
More about Chris Egbers
Singer-songwriter Chris Egbers makes unhurried folk pop: songs with a clear head and tail, providing time to daydream. His inspiration comes from artistes like Bertolf, The War On Drugs and John Mayer, other people's unusual stories, and his walk to the supermarket. Chris combines his passion for music with the drive to be socially committed. He not only wants his music to be entertaining, but also an instrument to build a bridge between people who might otherwise prefer to avoid each other. Encouraging contact and nuance are his main goals (source: www.chrisegbers.com).
