Open Call ‘WAARDEVOL’ (VALUABLE) for Fashion + Design Festival Arnhem 2022

The Fashion + Design Festival Arnhem (FDFA) asks designers to submit their plans for the Open Call ‘Waardevol’ (VALUABLE). What values do you think play a role in your design practice? And why are those values important to you and therefore valuable?
FDFA’22 is looking for designers who want to present an installation in June about their vision on the values of fashion and/or design. Are you an independent fashion or product designer and do you want to share your paradigm with the visitors and residents of Arnhem in June? Do you live or work in Arnhem, did you study there or were you born there? Then FDFA is looking for you!
Submit your plan
The Fashion + Design Festival asks you to send a short plan about your idea for an installation/presentation/performance around the theme 'WAARDEVOL’ (VALUABLE). Register now and maybe you will be selected as one of the five designers who can show their installation in prominent places in Arnhem.
Submit your plan (maximum one A4 page) to info@fdfarnhem.nl before March 10, 2022. Your idea will be discussed by the selection committee, consisting of representatives of Mode Partners 025. The entries will be judged on their progressiveness, comprehensibility and connection with the theme 'WAARDEVOL’ (valuable). It is important that you as a designer are in some way connected with (the creative climate of) Arnhem. Educational background is not important to FDFA; everyone is welcome to submit a plan! The selection will be announced at the end of March. Each selected designer receives a working budget to implement the idea in question. Structure of the presentation will be in week 20/21.
FDFA’22: WAARDEVOL (VALUABLE)
In 2021, artists, designers, cultural institutions and visitors searched for meaning and happiness under the theme PURPOSE, on the basis of ten dimensions. During the 2022 edition, FDFA wants to further explore the other values that fashion and design have in them. In order to make a transition in the system possible, it is important to gain insight into what values exist in addition to the well-known capitalist values. Under the title WAARDEVOL (VALUABLE), FDFA wants to share underlying, and less obvious, values with the public. FDFA will select five designers from an open call and these designers/studios each show their own vision of the different (new) values of fashion and design during an exhibition in June 2022.
About FDFA
Het Fashion + Design Festival Arnhem (FDFA) is ontstaan als opvolging van het stadsprogramma van de Arnhem Mode Biënnale. Doel van FDFA is om de creatieve rijkdom van Arnhem te bundelen tijdens een gezamenlijke modemaand, elk jaar, in juni. Ontwerpers, ondernemers, mode-/design evenementen en culturele instellingen laten tijdens FDFA hun bedrijvigheid zien. Het Fashion + Design Festival Arnhem is een platform voor (aan Arnhem verbonden) ontwerppraktijken en (creatief) ondernemers. Tijdens FDFA worden maatschappelijke ontwikkelingen op een laagdrempelige manier aan inwoners en bezoekers van Arnhem getoont middels mode en design. FDFA vormt samen met ArtEZ University of the Arts, Rijn IJssel Creatieve Industrie, State of Fashion en Museum Arnhem het samenwerkingsverband ‘Mode Partners 025’.
