Benefit concert: Music for Moria

The movement consists of (former)Music Therapy students, who did an internship in Moria during their studies. The Music Therapy course maintains close ties with camp Moria through its collaboration with the Connect by Music organisation. This organisation provides psychosocial support to refugees by offering music classes and activities at different locations in Greece.

Now that camp Moria has been so terribly hit by fire, the course and the (former) students in question have decided to take action.

Digna Huinink is one of these (former) students. She did a two-month internship and volunteer work in Greece for nine months, including four months on Lesbos, in the camp. She says,

“We all feel a close connection with the people of Lesbos. That's why we don't want to stand by, but do something. We already started a teaser event in Enschede in September. During this event ArtEZ music therapy students spoke and made music.
We also drew attention to Home for All.
Home for all was set up by a Greek couple. Often assisted by volunteers, they prepare meals for the refugees, which are dispensed outside and at the table. Now many are out on the streets  and the situation is more difficult, they are handing out food parcels.

We want to help them. By donating money and paying attention to the situation. Hence this benefit concert!”

Digna says, “We regard ourselves as a movement, so we want to encourage other musicians to join us and also organise a benefit concert in their own city!”
Besides the benefit concert in Enschede, three other concerts have already been confirmed: 9 October in Cologne, 10 October in Dortmund and 16 October in Bielefeld.
