A spell is an infusion; Like tea, it needs a teabag, boiling water, a cup, hands to hold and move the parts. Ritual indicates beginnings and endings, but effects already start before (all realms, material and immaterial, are reflections of each other and part of a whole) and continue after. Symbol is language; Learning to read forms and (black clothing absorbs surrounding energies) occurrences, (likewise, white clothing shields from surrounding energies) codifying them, (the full moon symbolizing completion of a cycle), and responding. Eleonora Moolenburgh's artistic practice is like spellcasting, and spellcasting is like putting staples in the infinite stack of cosmic realms. Through varying mediums (i.e. sculpture, installation, performance, writing) she touches on personal experience, the questioning of possibilities, and the wish to share and exchange stories.
