As a designer, I am driven to find creative and unique solutions that go beyond the obvious by experimenting. I am passionate about using my skills to address important topics and encourage people to think critically and engage in conversations. Whether it's shedding light on social issues or highlighting injustices in our world, I believe that design can provoke thought and inspire positive change.

Machismo

My graduation project focusses on the theme Machismo. Its main objective is to convey the emotions of disturbance, fear, awkwardness, and the need to hide your identity that I personally experienced during my youth while in the closet. This overwhelming (albeit unrealistic) fear originated from my upbringing with the Brazilian culture, where Machismo is more prominent, as well as from high school where alpha behaviour commenced. To explore this concept, I have created five different realities, each presenting a different "what if" scenario. These scenarios decide how Machismo is portrayed within each reality. The first video/reality depicts our current world with the most extreme form of Machismo, while the fifth video/reality showcases the least extreme form. Across these five videos, the meaning of Machismo subtly changes, gradually becoming less disturbing, a transformation that is seen in the footage.
