Originating from her own environment and fascination with old myths and stories, Sophie’s work takes shape while researching, reading and listening. Comparable to an old photo, she manages to capture a collective story, memory or feeling in a very still but impactful manner. Creating contemporary narratives of old tales, hinting at what went before and might still come after through symbolism.

For the Full:Filled show, Sophie presents a multidisciplinary artwork which evolves around an invented myth, focusing on the transformative potential of rage. In this myth, suppression of rage leads to physical transmutation of the body. We listen to a character who shares her experience of change happening on the inside and outside. While listening we get to feel the texture of a quilted blanket, which is historically meant for physical protection against harmful objects. Sophie creates a theatrical tension between the duality of our current society and the fragmentations between its people. Themes like vulnerability, discomfort and warmth are all found strongly in this work. Combining the audio with the quilt blanket poetically summarises all the different fragments of this installation.
