Who are you as a performer/artist?

I am a highly sensitive person moved regularly by the daily world and profoundly triggered by good art. I immerse myself physically, mentally and emotionally in art that I create and I’m involved in. As a maker, I am busy with finding ways to make art more inclusive. Currently, I am working on translating the visual aspect of dance in other senses, so that this art platform can be more accessible to a larger audience, namely people with visual impairment. As a dancer, I am interested in movement isolation, floor-work, partnering and physical theater. I perceive myself as a storyteller, when improvising, I love to use abstract narratives to continuously rediscover myself.

What are your ambitions?

I love to be invested in explorations that challenge in the conventional form of sharing dance. I am interested in the art that is relevant in our nowadays society, and I believe that in order to do so, it needs to be accessible for everyone that is part of this. I love to be in close touch with the audience while performing, to feel this instant feedback from them and react accordingly gives me a lot of freedom, adrenaline and joy.

Where do you find inspiration?

Almost everything has the potential to inspire, the challenging and fun part is to translate and develop this external input into your own artistry.

What did you do at your internship & what did you learn?

This year I worked as an intern at Sally Dansgezelschap Maastrich. There I have been part of the creation process and performance of “God is a DJ” as a dancer and performer. Moreover, I have been part of several dance residencies from young makers in the company.

I performed with the piece “Look at it from my side(site)” by Amit Palgi in The Netherlands and in Spain.

Furthermore, I continued developing a platform which allows users of blindness to enjoy dance.

This has been an unique year full of doubts, discoveries and more doubts. I’ve been teaching, voging, producing, researching, curating, volunteering, performing, hosting, mailing and dancing a lot. I think the biggest learning of this year was to stay open and to adapt, enjoy and rediscover myself in each role.
