These are hard times for the furniture industry. Production must be more sustainable, more efficient and more automated, while consumers increasingly expect products that meet their personal wishes and requirements. In this research, the designer is assigned a central role to solve this paradox by developing new concepts for a chair that are both ecologically and economically smart in production and use. On the one hand, the possibilities of using locally grown and processed indigenous wood types and, on the other, sustainable fabric coverings are being investigated.
