Pauline Louise meurs

Pauline Louise Meurs, professor of Health Care Governance at Erasmus University's Institute of Health Policy and Management, has been appointed a member of the Board of Governors of ArtEZ University of the Arts. She will take up this position on 1 January 2017. Once she assumes her duties, the Board of Governors will be at full strength.

In addition to her professorship, Meurs (1953) is scientific director of the Erasmus Centre for Health Care Management. Between 2007 and the spring of 2014 she was a member of the Dutch government's Senate, in which capacity she represented the Partij van de Arbeid (Dutch Labour Party). Since 2015 she chairs the Council for Public Health and Society. Between 2007 and mid-2015 she was chairperson of ZonMW, the organisation for health research and care innovation. She was also chairperson of VKO, the validation committee of quality care of research carried out by universities of applied sciences.

"The Board of Governors is pleased to welcome Pauline Meurs to its midst. Pauline is a very experienced director and particularly interested in art. She is highly knowledgeable about education and research at universities of applied sciences and university levels, partly through her chairpersonship of the validation committee. Her expertise greatly complements that of the other board members," says Pierre Ballings, chairman of the Board of Governors.

Other Board of Governors members are Adriana Esmeijer, Wilma de Koning and Renzo Martens.
