Programme

The programme for the Animation Design Summer School has been developed for people with experience or affinity with film and/or animation techniques.

During the Summer School you will work in the inspiring setting of our academy building, which is equipped with all kinds of specialized workshops and labs. The programme consists of a morning and afternoon session, which can be continued in the evening. During the day there will be continuous supervision or lectures and workshops.

Accent on storytelling

Giving your story content is essential. After all, a good story is what determines the quality of your animation: Storytelling and imagination are inextricably linked, as are form and content in every art discipline.

Existing material as starting point

The Summer School chooses to work from existing material. By reflecting on this material, the process of making choices and searching for depth is accelerated, giving the animation a more solid narrative.

You learn

to review and improve your own material, together with others
to structure the work process for developing your animation
to reflect on your own actions in the design process
it is not inconceivable that you discover a deeper theme in the existing work

You meet

fellow makers
renowned makers and experts in storytelling and production

Result

Based on a concept or theme, you have a plot document and storyboard ready for a short animation film. You have done animation tests to find a suitable technique and design for the animation you want to create. You are able to work out the plan for a short animation film independently.
