National Student Survey 2016: ArtEZ students more satisfied than ever

ArtEZ students are very satisfied with their degree programmes. This is evident from the National Student Survey (NSE), which is held annually among all students in Dutch higher education. 81% of the ArtEZ respondents gave a score of 4 or 5 out of 5. ArtEZ scored higher than last year on almost all the survey’s themes. Categories which students rated exceptionally highly:

• Lecturers
• Programme content
• The atmosphere at the locations

No less than 63.3% of ArtEZ students filled out the survey this year. This is an increase of 8.9% over last year and significantly higher than the national average response rate (42.9%). This makes it one of the most reliable measurements nationwide.

Higher scores than national average

On 51 of the 74 questions, ArtEZ scored significantly higher than the national average and on 14 of the 17 themes ArtEZ scored 3.5 or higher (on a 5-point scale).

79.3% would recommend their study programme at ArtEZ to others

Of the surveyed students, 76% are satisfied or very satisfied with their study programme at ArtEZ in general. In addition, 79.3% of the students indicate that they would recommend their programme to family or friends. 82.6% of students are satisfied or very satisfied with the atmosphere at the institutes. Students positively rate their lecturers, particularly their substantive expertise and involvement. 73% are satisfied or very satisfied. High scores were given for the content of the education and its connection to current practice. 70.2% are satisfied or very satisfied with this.

About the NSE

The NSE is commissioned annually by the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science and is conducted among higher education students across the Netherlands. The questions include, among other topics, satisfaction with lecturers, education facilities, quality of education and career preparation and support.
