The Board of Governors has appointed Maarten Bremer as member of the Executive Board of ArtEZ University of the Arts as of 1 December 2018. Within ArtEZ, he will be responsible for education and its further development, quality, coherence, and innovation. He will, together with internal and external stakeholders, further shape the educational vision.

The diverse career trajectory of Maarten Bremer, in the Netherlands and abroad, has ensured that in the last 20 years he has focused on finding new answers for complex social issues. Through this, he gained a clear vision on education and development. He makes new connections between people, organizations and networks organically, across diverse borders. This fits well with the international profile of ArtEZ.

Pierre Ballings, chairman of the Board of Governors, looks forward to working with the new member of the Executive Board: "We think we have found a suitable board member in Maarten Bremer who, in addition to his management experience and qualities, also has his own vision on developing and supporting education and entrepreneurship. This, combined with its connecting personality, can only benefit our education and our students."

Maarten Bremer

Throughout his career, Maarten is working on new ways of learning: from online learning, serious games, and informal learning in the workplace to flexibilisation, customization, and learning communities. This search led him through various fields like commercial training and consultancy firms, through development work in the Balkans, and over the past four years as director to Avans Deeltijd. There, Maarten was responsible for educational innovation, among others things. Now, he is making the step to higher art education at ArtEZ University of the Arts. With the appointment of Maarten Bremer, the Executive Board of ArtEZ is at its full strength. The other members are Marjolijn Brussaard (chairman) and Nishant Shah (research).
