Kaatje Kooij wins Piket Art Prize

Actress Kaatje Kooij, who graduated from the ArtEZ School of Acting in 2014, has won the Piket Art Prize 2016 in the category Theatre. The mr F.H. Piket Foundation introduced these Prizes to support young artists under the age of 30 in The Hague region. There are three Piket Art Prizes: Painting, Theatre and Dance. During the award ceremony at the Theater aan het Spui, each of the prize winners received a sculpture by artist Anneke Schat and a cheque in the amount of 8,000 euros.

According to the jury, “Kaatje Kooij is authentic and serious, and also modest, poetic and sensitive. However, she is unconventional and occasionally headstrong as well. She does not shy away from experimentation, opting to stray from the beaten track, and incorporates a touch of loneliness, including delicate themes that testify to inner strength. She has grown significantly over the past year to genuinely come into her own as an actress. Kaatje always serves the contents of the play. a commendable quality. Her language fluency and treatment of the text are also impressive. She is able to switch gears quickly and maintains her balance at all times. Kaatje seeks out a challenge whenever possible, but without compromising on her principles and with honesty. She is passionate about her profession and has tremendous potential for continued growth.”
