You Lookin' at me? is an interactive work of art created by Menno Schrap (teacher at ArtEZ in Zwolle) and Robin Noorda (guest lecturer of sound and vision in Zwolle and Enschede) that will be on display at the Amsterdam Light Festival in Wertheimpark until 8 January 2017. A children's jury at the festival awarded first prize to this work of art.
In the park, five large eyes are looking from a distance, following the people walking around them, responding to their presence, becoming deer-in-the-headlights large or bloodshot. The eyes are continually changing. The five huge spheres are illuminated from the inside by means of a projector via a concave mirror. That way, the entire sphere is illuminated. We use an infra-red camera to detect the presence of visitors near the eyes.
From 3 March to 26 March 2017 at I Light Marina Bay in Singapore
From 26 May to 17 June 2017 at the Vivid Light Festival in Sydney
