Ma voix humaine

My God, make him call back…
Hello? Hello? We were broken…

I have the thread around my neck.
I have your voice around my neck.
Your voice around my neck.

La voix humaine… It started in 1930 as a stage monologue. In 1959 there was an opera version. For decades, this "ultimate farewell monologue" - spoken and sung - has been performed in theaters all over the world. The role of the woman who calls her ex-lover for the last time is high on the wish list of many actresses and singers. And Imke Mol has also been dreaming of playing this for years. And now it's finally happening! However? Or not?

Imke Mol takes you on a journey through her thoughts, feelings and questions through the beauty and the difficulty of the opera, in search of the character's voice. And from himself. Because maybe she and the character can mean something to each other?

“Ma voix humaine” is a musical quest into how you can play Francis Poulenc's opera “La voix humaine” today as a young woman.
