  • ArtEZ Prizewinner
The most-believed fairytale
Annelou van Griensven and Anne-Marie Geurink

Het meest geloofde sprookje (the most-believed fairytale) had already been nominated for the Best Dutch Book Design award of 2015 and now has also won the bronze medal for the competition Schönsten Bücher aus aller Welt (The World’s most beautiful books). The fairy tale book about defaulting banks, high-frequency trading and the economic bubble was published in October 2015 and was created by Annelou van Griensven and Anne-Marie Geurink from Arnhem: “We are very proud to have won this literary prize.”

The authors drew inspiration from the economic crisis and related newspaper headlines such as those regarding defaulting banks, profit warnings, high-frequency trading and the economic bubble. Through their fairy tale, Van Griensven and Geurink expressed the realisation that the economy affects us all. They will receive the bronze medal in the competition Schönsten Bücher aus aller Welt on 18 March at the Leipziger Buchmesse for the original way in which they portrayed their message in words and images. The fairy tale book was selected out of 600 entries from 32 countries.

Both authors are ArtEZ alumni. Anne-Marie studied Product Design and Annelou studied Graphic Design, both in Arnhem. Since 1 August 2015 they have been working together at the graphic research studio De Vormforensen. Het meest geloofde sprookje will be on display in the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam as part of the Best Dutch Book Design collection for 2015.
