Liedeke Plate new member of the ArtEZ Supervisory Board

On 1 February 2025, Liedeke Plate, professor at Radboud University, will take office as a new member of the ArtEZ Supervisory Board. She will be the successor to Pauline Meurs. Liedeke will chair the Board's Education and Research Committee. The Supervisory Board is very pleased with Liedeke Plate's arrival and thanks Pauline Meurs for her commitment and contribution to ArtEZ since she took office in 2016.

Culture and inclusivity

In her position as professor, Liedeke's research focus is on the relationship between art, culture and inclusion. This is very much aligned with ArtEZ's aims and vision. The common thread in her research is her interest in the artistic and cultural practices that promote or hinder inclusive thinking in society. She has experience of working with international students, ensuring a safe learning environment and does not hesitate - even if it can sometimes cause friction - to bring in the importance of other perspectives.

Experience in education and research

Liedeke is no stranger to ArtEZ. She has been involved in various ArtEZ teaching activities from her position as professor at the Department of Modern Languages and Cultures at Radboud University. With her extensive experience in teaching and research, she is a welcome addition to the areas of expertise of the Board. In addition to her work as a professor, Liedeke is also an important advocate for the arts and culture and for the importance of a good education and sufficient facilities for the arts and culture. She started her career as a ballet dancer in France. This experience she brings to her work as an educator and researcher, and soon as a supervisor.
