Last weekend Sander Lak, who completed his Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design at ArtEZ in 2006, presented his collection at the New York Fashion Week, from the first row next to Anna Wintour, head editor of Vogue.

His collection received critical acclaim especially for his extensive use of colour. As the New York Times describes his label Sies Marjan: “Sies Marjan turns its back on black.” This bold choice appears to have been well received, as a month ago the New York department store Barneys purchased the exclusive right to sell his collection for the next two years.

Sander Lak earned his Master’s degree at the fashion academy in London in 2008 and worked at fashion houses Philip Lim, Balmain and Dries van Noten.
