Eider Armendariz Cividian

During most of my career as a violinist, I’ve struggled to be myself on stage. My fears, insecurities and negative thoughts used to take over, stopping me from presenting myself the way I wanted to. In order to change this, it’s not surprising that I chose the topic of artistic identity for my Master’s research, and let me tell you it has helped me grow and improve in a way that I could never have imagined.
Besides researching about the self and watching hours and hours of interviews with artists that I look up to, I’ve done a deep introspection that has allowed me to understand where all of my insecurities and fears were coming from. It’s sometimes been hard to realize the importance and effect that some events of my life had on me, but it has definitely helped me be more aware of them and understand them. The results of my research are being reflected in an Eider who’s slowly getting more and more comfortable on stage.

“I know that vulnerability is kind of the core of shame and fear and our struggle for worthiness, but it appears that it’s also the birthplace of joy, of creativity, of belonging, of love...” - Brené Brown

Since I’m sure that I’m not the only artist struggling to find my artistic identity, I’ve gathered all the steps that I followed during my research, alongside inspiring quotes and videos, in an ebook: Find Your Artistic Identity - A guide to become the artist you want to be. Its beautiful design makes it easy to read, and it’s full of activities and interactive elements. Are you interested? I wrote an article about it in which I answer questions you might have about my ebook, but if you’re done with reading for now, you can learn more about my research and my ebook in this video, or you can buy my ebook by clicking here!

Okay, enough about my research, let’s get into the most exciting part: my final exam! It will be a clear example of who I am as an artist and where I am now, since I’ll play four pieces that I love, each of them associated with very important pillars of my life. I’m very much looking forward to being on stage with my friends, having some fun and sharing a part of my life-story with the audience. Oh, and I will also be presenting my ebook officially, which I’m so excited for!
If you need me, I’ll probably be either practicing (most likely), writing or cooking. But you can contact me and I’ll reply as soon as possible!
