Community Cultural Entrepreneurship

Community Cultural Entrepreneurship

Our Community Cultural Entrepreneurship (CCO) is a network where knowledge, experience, resources, and external networks are shared. In our CCO meetings, you can share your experiences and insights on guiding students in preparing for their working life after ArtEZ.

We started a pilot this year in which three tutors are ambassadors for the CCO. They can tell you all about our projects and opportunities for your training. They will strengthen cooperation between the programs and ensure that existing knowledge is shared and enriched with your experiences. They will also highlight any knowledge that still needs to be added. Below, you can read more about who our three Cultural Entrepreneurship Community ambassadors are. This spring, they will each organise a meeting with inspiring topics in Arnhem, Zwolle and Enschede.

The CCO meeting in Enschede on 19 April

The theory and practice of Challenge Based Learning

Challenge Based Learning occurs at the interface of education and the labour market. This form of schooling naturally suits ArtEZ, but in which much is still being developed. Based on practical examples, we will discuss how you see this as a tutor and approach it in your teaching. We end the meeting with drinks, hosted by the networking café READY TO START, which is now coming to Enschede after successful editions in Arnhem and Zwolle: students and alums get advice on funds, vouchers, training, and coaching. They get to know each other, explore collaborations and ask as many questions as possible. As a tutor, you are welcome to attend the Café.

Date: 19 April 2024 - Sign up here

The CCO meeting in Zwolle on 20 March

Entrepreneurship education, from implicit to explicit

Do you know the number of your students who are or will become entrepreneurs after graduation? Do you have any idea what alums think about entrepreneurship education at ArtEZ? We researched it and will share our findings during the annual day of A&D Zwolle. Tamara Rookus (interim head of ArtEZ Business Centre) will give two workshops using the Entrecomp (Entrepreneurship Competences) model to give insight into how to train entrepreneurship skills. How implicitly or explicitly do you already do this as a tutor, what do you encounter, and where are there still opportunities? Karin Gerfen, tutor DBKV, complements with an inspiring story from practice: how to integrate training entrepreneurship skills within your current curriculum.

Date: 20 March 2024
Location: Academy Art&Design, Zwolle
Time: see the academy day programme for specific times of this workshop
Hosts: Tamara Rookus and Karin Gerfen

The CCO meeting in Arnhem on 13 March

Value and resilience: getting a grip on the system we relate to

A lunch programme with three engaged tutors conversing and using practice-based examples. After all, how do we activate and support social engagement, self-sufficiency, and self-organisation among students? And what do we, as tutors, need in doing so? In moving between idea and reality, uncertainty sometimes comes around the corner. If you are curious about how to develop and deploy your role as a tutor from your hybrid professional practice, come to this meeting for support. We will share our best practices, working methods and experiences to (de)learn and support each other as co-makers in the CCO.

Date: 13 March 2024
Location: ArtEZ Arnhem, M3.07 (middle building opposite Mediatheek)
Time: 10.00 - 10.15 walk-in; 10.15 - 12.15 programme; 12.15 - 13.00 lunch
Lecturers: Anouk van Lith (ArtEZ Academy Theatre & Dance, Artisteducator in Theatre), Frank Kolkman (ArtEZ Art & Design Arnhem, Product Design) and Pieter van Engelen (ArtEZ Conservatoire, Jazz & Pop Arnhem).

Our ambassadors

Lenn Cox, photo by Liza Wolters

Lenn Cox | for Arnhem

Lenn already works at ArtEZ as a programme maker, educator and community organiser on projects around collectivity in the cultural sector. Since September, Lenn has been part of the core team MA Critical Fashion Practices and supervises students with their research. She is also developing an Honours Lab track with Daniëlle Bruggeman and Chet Bugter.

In her new role as ambassador, she is especially curious about the needs that exist and what more - or less - is needed.

João Ramos Marta

João Ramos Marta  | for Zwolle

João Ramos Marta is principal study teacher at ArtEZ Academy of Music in Zwolle.
João is curious about everyone's insights on music and arts entrepreneurship and is eager to engage in conversation about it.

"I believe we can learn a lot from each other and together create a fertile environment for creation and innovation."

Elwin Rumplmair

Elwin Rumplmair  |  for Enschede

Elwin is a lecturer at MediaMusic and also works as a cultural entrepreneur.
He leads a minor within the Academy of Music and is mainly active in marketing and organisation. As a cultural entrepreneur, he organises local cultural events and international gaming events.
He enjoys working with students and supporting their entrepreneurship, seeing the dividing line between academy and the field disappearing. Thus, he sees students already setting up inspiring productions and ventures during their studies.

Elwin adds: "I see the Cultural Entrepreneurship Community as a valuable platform to connect with colleagues, establish collaborations and jointly take students to the next level."
