Banda Magda band in residence for Jazz & Pop Arnhem next academic year

The band Banda Magda has been contracted by Jazz & Pop Arnhem as its band in residence. During the project week, from Tuesday 1 November until Thursday 3 November, the band will be at the School of Music in Arnhem to work closely with the students. Students will compose their own song and cover one of Banda Magda's songs in their own unique way. The collaboration will culminate in an evening full of unique, outstanding and, above all, beautiful student performances.

The quintet Banda Magda, led by frontwoman Magda Giannikou, performs an alluring mix of world music, from samba to French chanson, from Greek folk tunes to Columbian cumbia, and more (www.bandamagda.com).

Banda Magda are performing at the Luxor Live theatre on Wednesday 2 November.

Big names

The band in residence project week is popular with the students. The opportunity to be work so closely with big names from the music industry is one that few students miss. Previous bands in residence include Simin Tander 4tet (2015), Now vs Now (2014) and Snarky Puppy (2013).
