On Saturday night 14 December the Utrecht hip-hop theatre collective DIEHELEDING received the DOX Award. DOX is the venue for makers and young performers from various (sub)cultures. They work together in research and learning projects (DOX Club) and in productions and education projects that reach a young audience.

DOX Award
From DOX's jury report: “DIEHELEDING is a collective with a shared fascination and love for hip-hop and they are making great strides in their development. Mixing original stories with their own. The effortless switching between storytelling, rap, beatboxing, song and drama in theatre, tents and classrooms. Sampling, texts, role models, works of art, emotions, memories, dreams, clothes and music, anything goes! That's inspiring!“

The DOX Award comes with a €5,000 cheque which talented makers and performers can use to develop their skills even further.

DIEHELEDING
Hip-hop theatre collective DIEHELEDING consists of ArtEZ School of Acting alumni Steven Ivo, Annebel Overbeeke, Nick Livramento Silva, Merel Pauw and Dalorim Wartes. Under the direction of director Jip Vuik, lecturer at ArtEZ, they make hip-hop theatre. The love for hip-hop brought them together and through hip-hop the makers tell stories. DIEHELEDING brings smart lyrics to stupid beats, and stupid lyrics to smart beats.
