ArtEZ incites students to start a revolution during Revolte event

When will you start a revolution?

Why won't any of us get out of bed to stand up for a more just world? Why do we cop out en masse just because it all seems a long way off? What would it take for us to put our heads together and roll our sleeves up? When will you start a revolution?

On Thursday 9 November ArtEZ students, lecturers and other interested individuals will discuss these questions with well-known national and international artists, performers and scholars, including the world famous hacker and activist Jaromil. Hacking, activism and creativity are all part of the same continuum for Jaromil. Jaromil will demonstrate how hacker communities, with their creative ethos, have played an important role in numerous innovations, not only in a technical sense but also in the economic, political and social arenas.

From 10.30 to 16.00, students and others whose interest is piqued can visit Museum Twentse Welle (Auditorium), AKI ArtEZ and ArtEZ Academy of Music Enschede for an extensive programme of lectures, performances, discussions and breakouts. At the same time, a film festival about revolution will be held in Arnhem, in collaboration with Focus Filmtheater Arnhem.

The entire programme will be in English.
