Advice and knowledge

How do you prepare students for the business side of the profession and teach them about entrepreneurship?

Advice and knowledge

We advise heads and teachers about their program by discussing how you can prepare students for their profession's business side. Entrepreneurship education is a compulsory part of the ArtEZ curriculum. Many study programs recognize the importance of this and look at how entrepreneurship should be included in education. Do you already start with this in the first year or only by the time students graduate? What kind of projects, methods, and working methods deliver proven good learning results? Are we going to talk about money during the study or not? Do we offer these topics explicitly, or do we implicitly weave them into projects?

IMAE, Master Artist Educator, Usefulness, 2020

In 2018, the ArtEZ Business Center researched and inventoried the state of entrepreneurship in education among the 31 ArtEZ bachelor's programs. You can read our research here and an article about it in the digital magazine Onderwjisinnovatie: "Usefulness and necessity of entrepreneurship in art education."

We notice that many study programs, each in their particular way, have already developed valuable programs and projects. The research insights have led to more active guidance of the courses from the ArtEZ Business Center. By investing together with educators in sharing knowledge and experiences, the study programs gain a better understanding of how they can offer their students entrepreneurship as a more regular part.

We invite everyone to use our knowledge of how to integrate these skills into education appropriately. Tamara Rookus develops and teaches about creative entrepreneurship. You can contact her for a consultation.
