SonIC cONversations

“SonIC cONversations“, a perpetuum mobile of sonic explorations and possibilities with the help of inside piano playing and the use of various preparations on the acoustic piano guided by its mechanist Alexander B. A. Pielsticker.

An environment of sound and silence, trying to detache the sense of meaning by following impulses intuitively and putting the focus on the piano as being the main actor of this journey.

Moving between the conventional sound of a piano and an abstract sound cosmos, created by the synthesis of combined inside playing and preparations on the piano, Alexander will not only be pushing the boundaries of the sonic possibilities on his instrument, but furthermore develop a long breath of sound by using fluent structures and the momentum of free improvisation.

An experimental situation in which artistic and musical roles are no longer fixed but have the possibility to fluently evolve to serve only one thing: the music.

Alexander B. A. Pielsticker (1997) is a pianist, composer and improvising artist currently based in Cologne, Germany. With his brought background in classical, jazz, contemporary music, and free improvisation, he collaborates with different artists, musicians, ensembles, collectives and interdisciplinary groups especially in Germany, the Netherlands and Austria.

During his master research at the ArtEZ University of the Arts in Arnhem he experienced a lot about himself, not only on a musical level, but especially on a personal human-based level, since he fully dedicated this two years of study on himself, his instrument and what and how he wants to express himself as an artist in today’s complex society.

“It was a long and tough process for me in order to really find what I want to express as an artist in this complex modern world and today’s society and reflect this in my music and on my instrument as well. Saying that, I would have never expected the research outcome to be like that, but it sometimes just needs one different point of view on things in order to completely switch it around to make sense out of it. Therefore, I can’t wait to present my work “SonIC cONversations“ and see how the world is going to react on it.”
