AKI painter Nancy de Graaf wins Heartfund prize

Nancy de Graaf, who graduated last week from AKI ArtEZ Fine Art Painting in Enschede, is the new winner of the Heartfund prize. The Heartfund jury committee, which this year consisted of Jet van der Sluis, Remco Dikken and Jan Noltes, unanimously chose the powerful, colourful, large-format paintings alongside Nancy's small watercolour studies.

Heartfund prize for young painters

The Heartfund is an initiative by the Heartpool Foundation. Each year, this foundation supports one graduate painter from AKI ArtEZ for a period of one year in their transition from student at the academy to independent artist. The winner of the prize receives a fully-equipped studio and a monthly financial contribution towards their materials costs. If they so wish, the painter can also receive advice on artistic and business matters. The year concludes with a publication and a solo exhibition at the HeartGallery Hengelo (Overijssel).
Previous winners of the Heartfund prize include Omar Koubaa, Sam Samiee, Jan Bilitewski and Helena Hoogenraad.
