AKI Fine Art and Concordia are collaborating again this year in the special project Pavilion. Here, Concordia's art space functions as a place for AKI Fine Art students to step outside the academy, to experiment and to display ideas and research. Students tailor their work to the space and learn in what ways a presentation and a context influence how you see your own work, but also how audiences experience your work.

Welcome to paradise! You cannot hide here. Radical authenticity and courage, embracing the music that is there, superseding the ego. That is what my studies here at ArtEZ are about and it is also what I am searching for in my final performance. Apart from some music that I wrote and some favorite pieces that have accumulated in my musical world, the direction of the concert will mainly be determined by what lies within the people playing that night. Improvisation is key, culminating in the now. How will it sound? Think of it as Neanderthaler-Jazz! So again, welcome to paradise. No one can hide here. No need. abide, my friend   hey, Nice to meet you, my name is P. I’m a kid who wants to make beautiful things. Besides my ‘main’ instrument, the bass, I long to explore and use other mediums like piano, guitar, painting, singing, writing… as long as it’s genuine to the cause.  Creating is like a stepping through a portal. It takes me to a place where I get to live with my own characters and fables. It’s the realm of the dreamer.  As Oscar Wilde put it: “Art’s only aim is to simply create a mood”. And that is exactly what me and my friends would like to share with you.  Take a breath and abide, my friend.    - P.   THE KIDS:  bass, guitar, vocals: Pauline Timmerbeil drums: Daniel Louis electric guitar: Marco Braun piano, rhodes: Fee Aaij saxophon: Norbert Lensink

Hey you. My name’s Niklas. I write and produce music, ‘surpriiiise’ ;). A serene, acoustic-electronic forest is where I frequently stroll. In it, I tend to find guitar, vocals and electronic sounds, and I play with rhythm in a minimal setting. From that place I wander to a large, epic realm I like to call “realisation music”, and I touch, taste and fabricate everything I like along the way.   If you’re curious, come wander wíth me on my final.     Credits Backing vocal: Oscar van de Steeg Backing vocal: Anne Damink    Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/niklas.haverkate/ Mail: haverkate.niklas@gmail.com

Papatūānuku Oleksandra Shevchenko is a Ukrainian composer who tends to use raw realism in her music to help the audience connect and identify with it. She has scored a few short films and animations, as well as a feature sci-fi horror movie which is currently streaming on Amazon Prime, and for which she won the Best Sound award (Carpe Diem Film Festival 2023).   For her final Oleksandra is going to present her movie “Papatūānuku”. It is a film that raises concerns about our planet and how we treat it. Through the power of diverse images of Earth’s landscapes, spoken word and emotional music, it draws attention to a very clear message, giving an audience room for thought. Arnhem Stadsgesprek and Mode Partners 025 present at Rozet: STOF TOT NADENKEN [FABRIC FOR THOUGHT] – about the future of sustainable fashion Arnhem is known as a city of sustainable fashion. But what does sustainable fashion really mean? NewTexEco has been invited as an interdisciplinary research community to share insights on the need for an integrated approach — where technology, the market, and design (education) come together. NewTexEco will take visitors on a journey into the story behind a piece of clothing, asking critical questions like: how sustainable is vegan leather, really? Scroll down for the full programme and discover what a Textile Surgery is all about!
