YOUR HOME IS NOT: YOU AND YOUR PET

 A designated space where insects can thrive and breed between your tiles, tables and walls.

“Your home is not: you and your pet” is a proposal for an urban environment where humans and non-human living entities encounter directly and participate as active agents in shaping the city, leading to more liveable landscapes for everyone.   

The project consists of ordinary components taken from the household: a series of tiles, wall elements and a coffee table designed to benefit both human and non-human species. These objects are an integration in the construction process of the house. The use of concrete and ceramic combined with the innovative technique of 3D printing is applied to mimic the aesthetics of the insect’s nests interior to shed a light on the mysterious world of the invertebrates. 

Yara has had a fascination and curiosity for wildlife since the early age, dreaming about going to expeditions in Antarctica to save the endangered species, however she realised she does not need to go to the other side of the world to save the animals, but can initiate a change within her products.
