"How can graffiti be implemented in design?"

 A collection of wearables, inspired by spray paint and its workflow.

In this project I created a working method based on direct making, drawing inspiration from the dynamic world of graffiti.

The spray can is a tool that I’ve been practising with for over ten years. During this project I work and play with its unique possibilities and limitations, to push boundaries, and find a way to translate the essence of the painted works into tangible objects. I’m intrigued by this tool and driven to find my way to design with it.

Some items could be directly translated from the painting, others required steps in between or a different approach. I’ve been working on ways to maintain the moment of the painting, the feeling. It should contain the roughness and the quick way of working, yet the end product should have a quality finish. Each item captures the raw energy and spontaneity, maintaining the moment of creativity by integrating elements such as the colour or shape from the original piece.
