The paintings that Xam van Kempen creates are all part of a world. A world where he merges his own environment with fiction. He sees himself as a storyteller and he brings his stories to life on the canvas. Xam’s paintings are a portrait of abnormality. It shows such abnormality without giving it a name or explanation but leaves it free to exist in front of us for what it is. He is not interested in solving or explaining, he wants to empathize the public with the ignored and forgotten.
