Internship at Skänes Dansteater (Sweden). Performing works by Tilman O'Donnell, Anouk van Dijk and Fernando Melo, together with incredible inspiring people // Artistic research with Jill Kupers that explores intimacy and ways of sharing it within different contexts. This July, we will be part of Over HET IJ festival with The Distance We Share , an outcome of our research (come and be intimate with us).
From embodying -moving furniture- in Sweden to sharing intimacy around a container in The Netherlands
Even if my biggest struggle is still performing two precise pirouettes, I could also add that I am a brave, versatile, curious, and welcoming performer (for now).
What inspires me is devotion to the work, commitment to the body, different physical existences, improvisations in-between moments, people's curiosity and people's support, provoking thoughts, good vibes, calmness, colorful outfits, and honest smiles :))))) ))))
With the last cadenza, I leave Sweden after having been a green jellyfish, a maid, a nude extension of a 'magnificient' sculpture and a sweaty body in the sauna. Much I can say about my nine-months at Skänes Dansteater, but to keep it short I would just like to emphasize the respectful approach that I have been surrounded by. Respect for the physical and emotional body, respect for the profession, respect within the work environment. Because as most of you probably know, working conditions in Sweden are the most admirable and sought-after that I have seen.
To give a brief realistic touch, obviously there have been challenges during the way that gave me a better understanding in how I want to work and how I want to direct my practice. Once experienced this role model, the condition that I wish the most for my coming future is to be working always from a respectful place. I could not be more excited and scared to undertake the uncertain path once graduated, and embrace with curiosity the different opportunities that are still in need to be emerged.
