Neyschme Yanarico

A young cat-boy is dreaming of playtime with his stuffed toy. While playing, however, he starts noticing the presence of a black door that gradually becomes harder to ignore. He would reach out for the door, if it weren't for his stuffed friend constantly whisking him away for some reason. What could it mean..?

This short’s themes are centered around grief, loss, and longing for the unattainable. Hence the name, Little Pie in the Sky which means wanting something that’s unrealistic. In this case, the little cat-boy yearns for the warmth of a past that has become unobtainable.

This film was a passion project, in which I truly wanted to push myself to make something I've never made before. In truth, this film is a big step forward towards my career as an animator, as I truly felt ambitious in terms of animating, compositing, and storytelling. I have come to learn a lot about the process of animating a short: the constant challenges and hardships of both the art and the writing, my strengths and weaknesses and the rediscovery of my passion for animation.

I hope to make many more of these fully animated shorts in the future.
