ONKRUID VERGAAT NIET.

A collection of porcelain objects that celebrate the herbal qualities of weeds.

A collection of porcelain objects that celebrate the herbal qualities of weeds. The project consists of several teapots and care products, giving them a stage to tell their stories.

Central to the project is the field horsetail. This plant is seen as a very stubborn weed and we have forgotten its herbal uses. It deserves a revaluation and our attention.

The objects are made with one-piece molds, which are assembled in to newer, more elaborate shapes and objects. I chose to show the seam to trace back the origins of the molds and to refer back to the honesty of nature which shows its perfect imperfections.

My fascination with weeds has been shaped by my grandma’s 60-year-old garden. Nature can exist without any interference here. It is an honest environment where the plants have a stage to tell their story and a place for me to listen to what they are saying: Weeds never perish!

Nadine Pijnacker is defined by a sensitive and observative look. Through her ceramics she revalues the non-human world and re-introduce the once common craft of herbal medicine. The plants she uses can be found all around us when we observe well enough.
